Formartine’s has recently been awarded Gold by The Green Tourism Business Scheme for building an environmentally sustainable visitor attraction in Grampian, Aberdeen. Owner John Cooper & business partners Lord and Lady Aberdeen set out to develop an ethical & sustainable business, committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment.
Businesses wishing to be accredited with a Green Tourism award are assessed against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, and more.
Formartine’s Environmental Highlights
A state-of-the-art heat recovery system installed by Secker & Sons (Norwich) Ltd captures the wasted heat from refrigeration plant and recycles it to provide heating and hot water for the 3300 square foot building.
Air conditioning is provided using Air Source Heat Pumps.
They process all of their own effluent and kitchen waste on-site.
